- Avoid over-watering your garden and balcony plants.
- Choose to water your garden early in the morning when the temperature and wind speed are at their lowest possible. This reduces water loss through evaporation.
- Make sure that garden sprinklers are positioned so that the water lands on the lawn and shrubs and not on paved areas.
- Choose an automatic watering installation. Make sure the system is working properly and there are no leaks along the network.
- Avoid excessive use of fertilizers, which increase water needs.
- If you have an aquarium, irrigate the plants with its water. This water is rich in nitrogen and phosphorus and can be used as fertilizer.
- Select plants that are suited for the climatic conditions of the area you live in.
- Place a nozzle at the end of your hose to adjust the flow to your needs and prevent water waste.
- Use a broom or mop instead of the hose to clean your patio or sidewalk. Avoid installing decorative structures where water is used, e.g. fountains, unless the water is recycled. Identify potential losses due to evaporation and air direction.
- Prefer car washes that recycle water. If you are washing your car or another vehicle (e.g. motorcycle, bicycle, etc.) yourself choose grassy areas and use a bucket to wash the car, not the hose.
