2 days in Leros island (+photos)

First day of our project team in beautiful Leros

where during the afternoon, the Water Matters Program “Science Café” took place in the welcoming space of the Municipal Cinema in Lakki.

The aim of the action,

was to initiate the discussion on the management of this natural resource and to provide answers to issues related to its use on the island. Residents and stakeholders expressed their actual concern by participating in the open discussion held by the scientific team of Water Matters and by stating their experiences on the matter.

Because water protection involves the local community!
Because water matters for all of us!

Day 2 in sunny Leros

and “Water Matters” team is out in the fields!!  In our natural habitat! Students from the island high-schools get to know water, in a new way!

At Rhinas Spring in Partheni, they learn about the biotic and abiotic factors of an aquatic ecosystem and also become aware on a series of man-made interventions in the area.

These activities, designed from the “Water Matters” scientific team, aim to raise the awareness of the island’s students on the most precious resource humankind has in its possession: Water!

Water matters and it is of the  utmost importance for all of us, but first and foremost for children.

Tomorrow’s caretakers of this planet.
