“Water Matters: Increase knowledge on the Importance of the Good Status of Water Bodies” launches the first in a series of webinars.
The first in a series of training seminars (webinars) for formal and non-formal teacher training was held on February 15, 2023 within the framework of the “Water matters” project, implemented by the Institute of Marine Biological Resources and Inland Waters (IMBRIW) and financed by the “Water Management” Program of EEA Grants 2014-2021 (European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2014-2021), with the Ministry of Environment and Energy as Project Manager.
It may be noted that the grants of the 3rd Donor Countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), through the 2014-2021 EEA MF, contribute to achieving of the general objectives for:
(a) Reducing economic and social inequalities in the European Economic Area and
(b) Strengthening bilateral relations between Iceland/Liechtenstein/Norway and the beneficiary countries.
In total, 92 people registered and 61 attended the webinar; representing the educational sector (formal and informal education) and local government while partners from Norway have also participated.
The seminar aimed
at the presentation of the project and called for participation and involvement from the student communities of the islands. During the speeches recent bibliographic data on the hydrological regime of the project’s target islands were presented and the value of the water monitoring program of Greece’s inland waters, implemented in recent years by HCMR, was highlighted. Furthermore, common problems together with common approaches for the sustainable use of water and understanding the value of water resources in Norway and Greece were documented.
